Listen to Maddie Hoover’s Interview
Ten Seasons of TrialGP: Maddie Hoover Reflects on Her Career
After ten seasons competing in the Women’s TrialGP World Championship, Maddie Hoover has closed the chapter on one of the most remarkable international careers in American trials.
In this episode of the On the Pegs Podcast, host Abigail Buzzelli sits down with Maddie to reflect on that journey. Together, they look back at the experiences that shaped a decade of competing on the world stage.
Maddie first entered the World Championship in 2014 at just 15 years old. At the time, she was still learning how to ride a 125 after years on a 250. However, that first trip to Europe quickly opened the door to something much bigger.
Over the next ten seasons, Maddie competed across Europe and around the world. Along the way, she experienced the highs and challenges of the World Championship paddock. Just as importantly, she helped represent and grow women’s trials in the United States.
Throughout the conversation, Maddie shares stories from the early days of her career. For example, she talks about training at the Trials Training Center, traveling internationally with her family, and building friendships with riders from across the global trials community.
At the same time, the Women’s TrialGP championship was evolving. During Maddie’s career, the series expanded in size and visibility. As a result, more women began competing at the highest level of the sport.
Now stepping away from the full World Championship schedule, Maddie reflects on the lessons she learned along the way. She also talks about the people who supported her throughout the journey.
Looking ahead, Maddie still plans to remain involved in the sport. In fact, she hopes to continue competing in the United States while chasing a tenth consecutive U.S. Women’s National Championship.
Ultimately, this episode offers a thoughtful look back at a decade of international competition. At the same time, it highlights the community and friendships that make trials such a unique sport.
